The holiday season is upon us to be sure. It is time for love and warmth, family and friends. Many people go to their vacation homes during this time, and there are some shipping tips you should be aware of, when you decide to ship your vehicle.
First of all, and most importantly, book early! This is a busy time for carriers and their agents, and getting your space secured in a timely fashion is essential. Remember that most carriers take time off during Christmas and New Years to spend time with their families, and as soon as you know when you want to ship your car, let your carrier know. There are some “dead weeks” during the holidays and you need to be aware of that.
For the three day weekends, remember that your shipping time may be a bit protracted as either Friday or Monday, businesses will be closed. This is a tricky time of year to be shipping a vehicle and you need to do your research so that the arrival of your car is as close to the time you wish it to be as possible.
Flexibility is necessary, for your carrier and for you too. The number of available carriers will decrease quite rapidly during the holidays and prices may go up, so be prepared for this. Also, see if you can arrange for someone other than yourself to accept delivery of the vehicle if the timing isn’t good for you. This gives everyone more options, and that’s fair to all involved.
During the holiday season, couriers are on much tighter schedules, and this is something you must keep in mind. If you are able to make up your mind quickly about dates that work for you, and book your spaces early, you are more apt to be a satisfied customer.
